Laser Lipolysis is one of the latest innovations in body sculpting and can eliminate excess fat pockets without the recovery time commonly associated with traditional liposuction. Plastic surgeon Kevin Cook, MD uses ScitonPro Lipo™, a minimally-invasive laser-assisted fat reduction system approved by the FDA in 2006. This technique can improve the contours of your body and get rid of stubborn fat that has proven resistant to even the strictest diet and exercise routines.
If you are at or near your ideal weight but struggle with isolated pockets of fat, ScitonPro Lipo™ can effectively target areas including:
- Love handles
In addition, this advanced laser lipolysis system can tighten loose skin at the target site and give the area a firmer appearance.

Laser Lipolysis Procedure
After administering a local anesthetic, Dr. Cook will make a very small incision at the target site using the ScitonPro Lipo™ ultra-thin laser. Then a fiber optic laser can prepare and liquefy excess fat cells for easy removal with a device called a cannula. This body sculpting technique is considered minimally-invasive and can be gentler on the body than traditional liposuction. In addition, scarring is often minimized since the incisions tend to be smaller.
Recovery And Results
Patients typically experience some slight swelling or bruising from ScitonPro Lipo™. Post-operative discomfort can be controlled with oral pain medication. Most patients return to their normal activities within one to two days after their procedure, which is significantly faster than traditional liposuction recovery.
Though you should notice substantial changes immediately following surgery, your results will likely continue to improve in the following weeks. Any remaining liquefied fat will be filtered out of the body by your natural metabolic process and your skin’s elasticity should continue to enhance smoothness of the surface skin. Since fat cells are unable to regenerate, the results of laser lipolysis with ScitonPro Lipo™ are considered permanent; however, your remaining fat cells can still store excess fat, increasing the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle to maintain results. A nutritious diet and regular exercise can help keep the effects of ScitonPro Lipo™ going for years to come!
