Dermaplane
For our patients who desire a renewed glow to their skin without the intensity of a laser resurfacing procedure, dermaplane offers a non-surgical, non-invasive alternative. Dermaplaning is an exfoliating treatment that removes dead skin, dirt, debris, and facial hair to open clogged pores and rejuvenate the skin’s appearance. The treatment can be performed alone or combined with the application of peels or clinical-grade skin care products to enhance absorption and efficacy. After dermaplane treatment, patients can experience smoother, clearer, fresher skin that looks and feels revitalized. The procedure can be repeated on a regular schedule to maintain and enhance the quality of results over time.

Benefits of Dermaplane
Dermaplane treatment is an effective method of skin exfoliation and rejuvenation that has the unique advantage of removing “peach fuzz” and coarser hairs from the face. This gentle treatment provides a wide range of skin improving benefits:
- Removes dead skin cells
- Removes debris from the skin’s surface
- Improves absorption of topical skincare products
- Allows for enhanced results from HydraFacial MD® treatments and laser skin resurfacing procedures
- Refines the appearance of pores
- Evens skin tone and combats hyperpigmentation
- Reduces the prominence of fine lines and wrinkles
- Improves skin texture
- Diminishes signs of sun damage
- Unclogs pores
- Should not result in broken capillaries like some other microdermabrasion treatments
Dermaplane Procedure and Results
To begin a dermaplane session, our esthetician will thoroughly cleanse and prepare the skin for treatment. Using a sterile, specially designed dermaplaning blade, our esthetician carefully glides the device over the skin’s surface with quick strokes to slough off dead skin cells, remove residue, and eliminate facial hair. Treatment usually takes about 30 minutes to complete and the effects of dermaplaning are often immediately visible. In some cases, dermaplaning may be followed by facial treatments, peels, or laser therapies to achieve an advanced degree of skin improvement. It is recommended that dermaplane treatments be repeated every three to four weeks to maintain optimal results, if desired. Some women are concerned that their facial hair may grow back thicker or more coarse after removal during dermaplaning; however, this is a myth, as only hormonal changes can affect the texture and thickness of facial hair. Men and women who have undergone dermaplaning at our practice are generally very pleased with the rejuvenated result they are able to achieve.
