BOTOX® Cosmetic is one of our most popular injectables. BOTOX® Cosmetic is used to treat facial wrinkles including fine lines, deep horizontal creases across the brow, furrows between the eyebrows, and crow’s feet. This treatment can smooth your skin for a more refreshed and youthful appearance. Dynamic wrinkles – or wrinkles that appear when you make facial expressions – are often the result of your underlying facial muscles involuntarily contracting. BOTOX® Cosmetic is composed of a neurotoxin that temporarily inhibits these muscles from contracting, resulting in a smoother, revitalized complexion.

Am I a Good Candidate for BOTOX® Cosmetic?
The best candidates for BOTOX® Cosmetic are healthy individuals who are at least 18 years old and are looking to prevent or treat mild to moderate signs of aging. Candidates for this treatment must have realistic expectations for nonsurgical options for treating skin aging. BOTOX® Cosmetic can minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for three to six months, but retreatment will be needed at regular intervals to maintain improvements.

Since BOTOX® Cosmetic works by blocking chemical signals from nerves to move muscles, it may not be suitable for people with medical conditions that affect the nerves. This treatment is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women.

How to Prepare for BOTOX® Cosmetic
Minimal preparation is required for BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments. However, you will be advised to take a break from anti-inflammatory medication and painkillers a week before your appointment to prevent excessive bruising during and after your session.

BOTOX® Cosmetic Procedure and Results
Dr. Cook utilizes a series of carefully placed injections to give you a more youthful, relaxed look. A topical anesthetic can be applied to the injection sites to help ensure your comfort during the procedure. BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments typically last 15-30 minutes, and many of our patients have the procedure performed during their lunch hour. There is virtually zero downtime associated with BOTOX® injections, and the outcome can usually be seen within 5-7 days of your treatment. The results of BOTOX® Cosmetic will typically last three to four months, and the effects can be maintained with occasional “touch-up” treatments.
