With the Halo™ hybrid fractional laser by Sciton®, plastic surgeon Kevin Cook, MD can perform highly customized skin treatment sessions targeting a variety of visible skin concerns related to aging, sun damage, and other dermatological factors. The Halo™ system incorporates dual lasers, which simultaneously deliver two different wavelengths of laser energy to diminish specific imperfections and renew the skin. This combined approach generally leads to more impressive results and a shorter recovery.

Halo™ Hybrid Fractional Laser Benefits

As one of the most advanced skin rejuvenating and resurfacing lasers, the Halo™ hybrid fractional laser offers several advantages over other laser skin treatments:

  • The depth and intensity of the dual lasers can be very precisely adjusted for customized treatment that suits the patient’s unique needs and goals.

  • Halo™ is proven to be effective for all skin types.

  • Advanced features provide more even, consistent treatment results.

  • Halo™ can treat deep and superficial layers of the skin simultaneously.

  • Treatment requires only topical anesthesia in most cases.

  • Fractional treatment results in reduced healing time and more comprehensive skin improvement.

What Does the Halo™ Hybrid Fractional Laser Do?

The Halo™ hybrid fractional laser can be used to effectively treat a broad spectrum of cosmetic skin concerns on the face, neck, and chest, including:

  • Fine lines

  • Hyperpigmentation

  • Sun damage

  • Uneven skin tone

  • Scarring

  • Large or noticeable pores

  • Uneven skin texture

  • Pigmented lesions

  • Visible signs of skin aging

What Can I Expect During Treatment?

First, Dr. Cook will apply a layer of topical anesthetic to numb your skin. He will then adjust the Halo™ lasers to the precise depth, wavelength, and treatment pattern to target your specific skin concerns and achieve the appropriate degree of resurfacing. The laser is then applied to the skin in short bursts, evenly across the surface. Dr. Cook may change settings throughout the treatment to deliver varied intensity to different areas of the skin. The length of your session will depend upon the amount of surface area being treated. Depending upon Dr. Cook’s assessment of your skin during the consultation and the treatment plan he suggests, you may decide to undergo multiple sessions to achieve optimal skin rejuvenation.

What Can I Expect During Recovery?

The depth and intensity of each patient’s treatment varies, so not all will experience the same recovery. Some patients experience swelling for the first 24 hours, followed by three days of recovery, while others report dry, tight skin for a week followed by two weeks of peeling. Prior to your treatment, Dr. Cook can explain more about what you can expect during your recovery. In many cases, your treatment plan can be customized to suit your schedule. You may prefer a series of less intensive treatments with short recoveries, as opposed to one full-strength treatment with a longer healing time.

Halo™ Hybrid Fractional Laser Results

Given the nature of the tummy tuck procedure, scars from abdominoplasty are unavoidable. Depending on the extent of your concerns and the surgical technique necessary to achieve your desired look, tummy tuck incisions typically exist low on the pubis and extend from hip to hip. In some cases, an additional incision may be made around the naval; however, Dr. Cook will inform you of what to expect after assessing your needs and goals in a consultation.

Dr. Cook has extensive experience performing tummy tuck surgery and takes great care with regard to incision placement. His refined technique typically allows scars to remain well-hidden under most types of clothing, including undergarments and bikini bottoms. He will provide detailed wound-care instructions after the procedure to encourage the best possible healing of your incisions. While scars typically fade to some degree once fully matured, most patients find that they are less concerned with the presence of visible scarring in light of their tummy tuck results.
